Parent & Grandparent Invitations!

30,000 applicants to be invited over a 2 week period starting September 20, 2021.

IRCC will be issuing invitations to eligible applicants under the Parent and Grandparent (PGP) Family Sponsorship immigration stream for a 2-week period starting on September 20, 2021. 30,000 applicants will be invited!

To qualify for this draw, sponsors must have submitted an interest to sponsor form during a brief window between October 13, 2020 – November 3, 2020. All eligible applicants were then pooled together to be invited by lottery. The previous draw in January saw 10,000 invitations issued, an additional 30,000 will be issued over the next two weeks.

"Canada’s Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program is unique in the world. It gives families the chance to reunite here, providing them the opportunity to thrive in this country. Family reunification plays a significant role in attracting, retaining and integrating immigrants who contribute to our success as a country." (IRCC, 2021)

How to check if you have been invited:

Check the email account that you used to submit your interest to sponsor form. If invited, you will receive the information from IRCC. Pay attention to your junk/spam folders as the message may have been filtered.

Once you receive an invitation you have just 60 days to submit your completed application to IRCC.

Prepare your documents as soon as possible so that you are ready before the deadline. A completed application includes documents from both the sponsor and the parent/grandparent:

  • filled and signed application forms

  • civil status documents

  • processing fees

  • sponsor documents

  • proof of relationship

  • tax documents

The PGP program is a rare opportunity for those lucky invitees to apply for permanent residence for their loved ones. Don’t miss this chance!

If at the end of this 2 week period you have not received an invitation, don't worry, you may still be eligible for a SUPER VISA. This is a 10-year multiple entry visitor visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. It allows visits for up to 2 years at a time!

Current immigration is here to assist you with the PGP or Super Visa process.
